Post-bye week look at the Redskins' injury situation

Share

The bye week appears to have helped the Redskins get a bit healthier, though we won’t get any real clues as to who will (and who won’t) suit up against the Patriots until Wednesday at the earliest. Anyway, here’s the latest from Monday’s light practice in Ashburn, Va., beginning with the good:

*OLB Ryan Kerrigan (hand) was on the field wearing a helmet. He did some work during individual drills—with his right hand wrapped—though he did not hit the sled. He hopes to play Sunday, but the team is obviously taking it slow with him.

*WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) was suited up for practice and participated in individual drills. He hasn’t played since the opener, but the expectation around here is that he’ll return vs. the Pats…unless he suffers another setback.

*CBs Chris Culliver (knee) and DeAngelo Hall (toe) took part in the early part of individual drills. Both, however, were held out of one-on-one drills vs. pass catchers, an exercise that requires hard cuts. They’ve missed three and four games, respectively, but they are making progress.

*RB Chris Thompson (bruised back) was participating in drills. He was sidelined last week vs. Tampa Bay.

Now for the bad:

*CB Bashaud Breeland (hamstring) rehabbed off to the side. His status for Sunday certainly bears watching. He was hurt late against the Bucs and Coach Jay Gruden sounded concerned.

*C Kory Lichtensteiger (neck) was on the field and wearing a helmet. But he wasn’t lining up with the starters. He’s missed the past two games.

And the unknown (for now, anyway):

*NT Terrance Knighton and OG Brandon Scherff were not on the field during the portion of practice that was open to reporters. Gruden said they missed the session due to personal reasons.

Gruden will meet with the media this afternoon and will be asked about all of the above players. He is not, however, compelled by NFL rules to provide specifics until Wednesday. So we’ll see what we’re able to learn.
