Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera announced that he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of cancer, on August 20, 2020.
Rivera would continue coaching the team that season as he underwent treatment for the disease. Nonetheless, close to two months after he announced the diagnosis, Rivera rang the bell to signify the end of his treatment.
On the anniversary of his cancer treatment coming to an end, the team surprised Rivera with a video and donation in Friday's team meeting after his one-year biopsy this week came back negative.
