Juan Soto hit a majestic two-run home run Thursday night against the Marlins to cut into Miami's lead, and as easy as it was to appreciate just by looking at the ball go, there was even more to like about this particular drive to right-center field.
Per MLB Stats, Soto's exit velocity on his home run was 114.1 mph, which is the hardest Washington's star outfielder has ever hit a home-run ball.
Soto's career-high only ranks fourth in Nationals history, however. Kyle Schwarber hit a homer 115.4 mph earlier this season before he was traded, while Bryce Harper has the No. 1 and No. 3 hardest hit home runs in team history. 116.3 mph is the number to beat.
The homer unfortunately wasn't enough for the Nats to get a win Thursday night. The Marlins scored six runs in the first two innings and they never relinquished the lead, moving the Nats to 54-72 on the year.
