After hearing that WNBA star Breanna Stewart is likely undergoing surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon this week, Wizards guard John Wall tweeted his well wishes as he works to come back from his own Achilles injury.
"@breannastewart keep your head up," he wrote. "This ain’t nothing you can't come back from. Stronger, Better and Determined."
Stewart, who plays for the Seattle Storm, was injured when landing awkwardly on fellow WNBA player Brittney Griner's foot during the EuroLeague title game. Many WNBA players spend their WNBA offseason playing overseas to supplement their WNBA salaries.
Wall was recovering from surgery when he slipped and fell in his apartment and ruptured his Achilles tendon earlier this year.
If Stewart did rupture her Achilles, she will almost certainly miss the 2019 WNBA season - a huge blow for the Storm, who beat the Washington Mystics in the 2019 WNBA Finals.
“I don’t think it’s a career-ending type of injury,” her father, Brian Stewart, told Syracuse.com, “but it’s certainly going to put her in the barn for a while.”

Wall's timetable to return to the Wizards for the 2019-20 season is also unknown.
