Wizards player review: James Singleton

Share

James Singleton was another player the Wizards brought on late in the season and who took full advantage of the situation and made a case for Washington to give him a chance to make the roster next year.

Singleton, a 6'-8" power forward, averaged 8 points and 7 rebounds off the bench in the last 12 games of the season for the Wizards. In just his third game with D.C., Singleton scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a convincing win over Charlotte in early April. Singleton followed up that game with 12 points and 8 boards in a home win over playoff-bound Orlando. Singleton also scored 11 points and had 5 rebounds in a win over a Milwaukee team that was fighting to make the playoffs.

Active and always playing with energy, the 6-year NBA veteran Singleton was no stranger to the Wizards, as he was on the 2009-10 team, coming over from Dallas in a mid-season trade. That season, Singleton averaged 6 points and 7 rebounds but was not brought back by the Wizards. Singleton went over to China and played there for the last two years before getting another shot with the the Wizards this past season.

The Wizards would be smart to at least extend an invitation to the 30-year old Singleton for training camp next season. Singleton may have his options with other teams, though, after his impressive late-season run with Washington.
