After the Washington Football Team applied the franchise tag to Brandon Scherff for the second year in a row on Monday, the four-time Pro Bowler signed it on Friday.
Scherff's $18 million salary is now guaranteed for the 2021 season, while he and Washington can continue to work on a long-term contract up until July 15.
If Scherff and the team can't come to an agreement by then, he'll become a free agent again in 2022.
Scherff made his first All-Pro team in 2020, helping lead Washington to its first playoff berth since 2015. He only allowed one sack last season.
