Todd Reirden officially named the Metro Division's coach for the All-Star game

Good things come in threes it seems.

Capitals head coach Todd Reirden will join Braden Holtby and John Carlson in St. Louis at the NHL All-Star game. Alex Ovechkin was named captain of the team through a fan vote, but has declined the invitation to rest his body for the second half of the season.

This is Reirden's second straight appearance as the head coach for the Metropolitan Division, and  is the first head coach in franchise history to coach in multiple All-Star Games . The coaching staff for the All-Star game is determined by best record in each division through the midway point of the season. The Capitals currently lead the Metropolitan Division with a 27-9-5 record and 59 standings points.

There's also potential for a fourth Capital to join in St. Louis. TJ Oshie has been nominated for the last-man-in competition, and fans can vote to send him to the All-Star game here.
